Looking up!

On the downside to having the last 5 days off, I have to return to work tomorrow. Though part of my time off wasn’t for leisure, but to attend a funeral and it’s family oriented services afterwards, I did enjoy the rest of my time off. I just wish it could last longer, and I wonder if I can stretch the time off until next Monday. Alas, the adult-thing to do is to suck it up and go to work because like my friend Steve said this afternoon “No work, no money”. This is true.

I was out in the garden this afternoon, and took some progressive shots of my plants. I’m actually more psyched for next spring and summer garden wise than I am for this year, since a lot of the plants were new and took forever to grow. But the one pictured here to the right, which are Common Sundrops, are really starting to look up. We covered the flower bed with black earth from WalMart (99 cents!) and ever since then, all the plants perked up considerably. Especially these. I am hoping they will bud and bloom soon, so I can snap more shots to show you all!

I think next year I will concentrate on making my garden look nice. This year was more centered on getting the bed cleared, worked, getting the plants in there and then taking care of them. Next year I want to clear the weeds/excess, and maybe make a rock border or fence it off. I’m not sure yet what I’d like to do, but I have all year to ponder about that–though I’m positive I’ll only do most of the pondering when it’s time to start weeding.
